Black Saturday

The Grand Parade by Lower Iveagh Royal Black District Chapter No1, better known as "Black Saturday" is held on the last Saturday in August. In 2008 the parade and demonstration were held in Dromore, Co Down.

Kilcoo Working Vintage Club

I attended the Kilcoo Working Vintage Club Annual Show. Jimmy Cowan, the chairman, was busy taking registrations and Patricia Clarke and Dick Magee were looking forward to a good day's craic.

Johnnie Fee and Geraldine Cavanagh displayed the only working, wooden horse drawn threshing machine, made by Henderson's of Omagh around 1880.

Down Club Championship

Action from the Around-A-Pound Down Intermediate Football Championship Quarter Final between Annaclone and Drumgath. Annaclone overcame their derby rivals.
Action from the Powerade Down Senior Football Championship Quarter Final between Leitrim and Saval. Saval progress to the semi finals by beating Leitrim 1-13 to 1-08.

Canoeing on the Bann

Young people from all over Northern Ireland are participating in a joint venture between the Canoe Association NI and Sport NI to develop talent in a slalom/ID project, "Beyond 2012" – which may even lead to selection for the 2012 Olympic Games . The River Bann at Banbridge Leisure Centre will be one of the region's practice locations.

Glenavon 0-1 Bangor

Newboys Bangor sit proudly on top of the JJB Sports Premiership tonight thanks to a Marty Verner goal five minutes from time. Despite dominating the possession Glenavon could not turn that domination into goals thanks to a combination of poor finishing and excellent goal keeping from Bangor’s young ‘keeper Andrew Plummer.

Willo McDonagh had a powerful effort at goal in the first half.

Tony Grant found no way round the Bangor defence.

Trevor Molloy was not happy at being substituted against Bangor at Mourneview Park

Images of Valencia

Scarva teenager William Buller compete in the Formula BMW Series and I have included a shot of him during his race today with the Grid, Main Grandstand and Pit Lane in the background.

F1 Valencia

I had the good fortune to be in Valencia for the F1 Grand Prix. Friday was a practice day and not much action. The scale of the operation is really something....and the NOISE! Huge grandstands have been built and I include a shot taken from inside T18 during a time when we sheltered from the sun in what shade we could find. It was very different tonight though. Thunder, lightning and a torrential downpour sent us all scurrying from pavement cafes to shelter from the rain.

You can view my Travel images of Spain, including a couple from Valencia here.

Harry Ferguson Celebration

A life size bronze sculpture, the centre piece of the Harry Ferguson Memorial Gardens, was unveiled by the Sally Fleming, grand daughter of the great man, and the Harry Ferguson Celebration Committee at Growell, just outside Dromore. Thousands of people flock to the annual working day and tractor exhibition with some 700 plus tractors on display. Unfortunately this year’s event coincided with some of the worst weather ever experienced in Northern Ireland. For more images click here: Harry Ferguson.

Tractor Run

The Harry Ferguson Celebration Committee ran a very successful Tractor Run on the eve of the official opening of the Celebration Garden at Growell, just outside Dromore.

Simply Deanes

I had the opportunity to photograph celebrity chef, Michael Deane in his 'Simply Deanes' restaurant at THE OUTLET, Banbridge. Michael was easy to talk to and very willing to accommodate my shots. We discussed – amongst other things - his liking for simple, stylish dishes made predominantly with locally sourced ingredients and for a man who has achieved so much, I was pleasantly surprised to find him unassuming and very much the sort of dinner companion that I’m sure I would enjoy. See http://www.michaeldeane.co.uk/ for more on Michael's restaurants.

Michael Deane is making a guest appearance at his Simply Deanes restaurant at The OUTLET, Banbridge on Friday 22nd August. Bringing Michelin star quality to Banbridge, Michael’s charity event, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, promises to be a mouth watering experience with a difference. On the night diners will be treated to a gourmet 7 course menu with matching fine wines. To find out more or to make a booking contact Simply Deanes at The OUTLET on 02840627220.

Kinallen Youth Club

Kinallen Youth Club held an, aptly named, "Summer Splash" Fun Night and BBQ - unfortunately it rained quite heavily on the group. The weather however didn't spoil this little girl's enjoyment of her burger!

How quickly they grow

Spent a few days up at Portballintrae in the caravan. The weather wasn't great but the change of scenery and relaxation were fantastic. Philip and Andy, called to see us. The lads are waiting on 'A' level results and hope to go up to university at the end of September. View my Portrait Portfolio.

Ronnie and Shirley

I travelled from a caravan holiday in Portballintrae to photograph Ronnie and Shirley's wedding at the Island Centre, Lisburn.

What a lovely couple. It was a pleasure to be part of their wonderful day. You can view my Wedding Portfolio here.
