Glenavon manager Stephen McBride commented after the game, “We showed character, bottle and attitude today and sometimes you don’t get it all your own way and you have to grind it out and we did that today. This time last year we would never have won that game and that’s the improvement. Hopefully the supporters walk away and can see that the players are digging in, showing detemination and I couldn’t ask anymore from the lads.” See Glenavon FC News for full report.

Glenavon beat Ballymena United in the 'basement battle' at the foot of the JJB Irish Premier League.

One of my regular employers, THE OUTLET in Banbridge had booked me to cover a charity event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. No problem I thought - I often photograph public events at the shopping centre. However, as I found out when I reported in to discuss the photo brief, this was not to be just another 'run-of-the-mill' photo assignment. Macmillan Cancer Support is THE OUTLET's main charity this year and many of the staff were taking part in a Zipline Challenge. Despite my dislike of heights, I was asked to accompany staff members in the cradle to record the event!

A goal in each half from Tony Grant earned Glenavon a 2-1 win over Eircom League side Bray Wanderers in today’s friendly at Mourneview Park. It was a very good work out for both sides and it gave an opportunity for Glenavon’s recent signings Brian Mallon and Davy Larmour to get some game time. Mallon replaced McCann for the second half with Paul Carvill moving to left wing and Larmour had a good half hour when he came on for Liggett.
