Happy Birthday Danielle!

Danielle is celebrating her 18th birthday with a party at the Belmont Hotel, Banbridge. I had the priviledge of doing two photoshoots with Danielle in my Lurgan Studio. She was very relaxed and easy to work with and I know that she enjoyed the experience very much.

Valencia

Valencia is one of my favourite holiday destinations. There is a great mixture of modern and ancient architecture and, while it is Spain's third largest city, it never seems to be overcrowded. So many restaurants and beaches to explore. The Plaza de la Virgin is a wonderfully atmospheric place by day or night.

Keeping an eye on the family

Under strict instructions to not, ever take my good friend's photograph, I snatched this one as she lay enjoying the last rays of the sun on Banna Beach, Co Kerry. It has always been one of my favouite images.

Stairway to heaven

Wilson's Conservation Building Products restore and display an amazing array of often unique period features ranging from cast iron and marble fireplaces to ornate spiral staircases and roll-top baths, stained glass panels and polished brass door furniture and taps of all kinds. The Great Escape starts here

Marty Quinn’s first League game in charge of Glenavon ended in a vital win for the Lurgan Blues against Lisburn Distillery. A reshuffled back line of Mark Haughey, right back, Mark Gracey and Jay Magee at centre back and Paul Carvill at left back, after a shaky opening five or ten minutes, settled down and looked solid, with keeper Andrew Plummer not having too many saves to make. Substitute Gary Liggett scored from eight yards out after Philip Matthews had parried a Jay Magee shot to earn Glenavon a crucial three points. Glenavon remain bottom of the table, but only on goal difference. More images from the match can be viewed at Glenavon V Lisburn Distillery.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!

Glenavon crashed out of the Mid-Ulster Cup at the Quarter Final stage as an extra time goal by Raymond Fitzpatrick sent Lurgan Celtic through. For Glenavon news and reports go to glenavonfc.com. Images from this game can be found here: Glenavon V Lurgan Celtic.

Evening play on the beach

Ardfert beach, Co Kerry proved a deserted playgroung for this young fella but his isolation didn't seem to bother him as he paddled and splashed.

"We can get ourselves out of the mess"

Glenavon were beaten 1-3 by Linfield in the JJB Sports Irish Cup (5th round) and must now turn to the task of lifting themselves off the bottom of the Irish Premier League. New manager Marty Quinn commented, "While we’re out of the Cup tonight we’re not a million miles away from the standard of Linfield and I’m hoping that we can take a bit of confidence from our second half performance today and build on it.
“I think we have the quality in the squad to stay up if we can show more character and more determination in our play .... we’re heading in the right direction. I’m quite confident that we can get ourselves out of the mess we are in.”

Dromore High School Formal 2009

The Dromore High School Leavers Formal Dinner was held in Edenmore Golf Club. Pupils, staff and friends were spruced up for a great night. Once again I found all of the young people to be extremely friendly and polite as I worked among them - a credit to their families and the school. The full set of pics may be viewed at Dromore High School Formal.

Market Stall

Its amazing what you can find of interest browsing markets. Wendy McKeown had set up her stall at the Christmas Fair in Dromore supplying a range of wonderful and whimsical designs to bring humour and colour to everyday life. Witty wall hangings and colourfully decorated buckets, churns and much more. All pieces are hand painted and as no two will be exactly the same each is an individual in it's own right.
